Twitter and Elon Musk’s legal team have both subpoenaed Peiter “Mudge” Zatko , former Twitter head of security and current whistleblower, related to his claims that Twitter has privacy and security vulnerabilities that put investors and national security at risk. Musk is attempting to extricate himself from his $44 billion deal to buy the company, and has been asking for data related to bot accounts; Twitter is asking for documents relating to Zatko’s exit from the company, as well as documents related to “the impact or effect of false or spam accounts on Twitter’s business and operations.”

QAnon believers “have flocked” to Donald Trump’s social media platform , Truth Social, according to media watchdog NewsGuard, which reports the former president and top executives working for the platform “actively promote” the QAnon accounts. NewsGuard found 88 users promoting the QAnon conspiracy theory on Truth Social, each to more than 10,000 followers. Thirty-two of those accounts were previously banned by Twitter. QAnon supporters contend that Trump and an anonymous government operative dubbed “Q” are working to take down a “deep state” network of child sex traffickers. In response to NewsGuard’s findings, Truth Social said in a statement that it had “reopened the internet and given the American people their voice back.”

The Federal Trade Commission is suing mobile analytics company Kochava for allegedly selling potentially sensitive location data. “In numerous instances, defendant has sold, licensed, or otherwise transferred precise geolocation data associated with unique persistent identifiers that reveal consumers’ visits to sensitive locations, including, among others, locations associated with medical care, reproductive health, religious worship, mental health, temporary shelters, such as shelters for the homeless, domestic violence survivors, or other at-risk populations, and addiction recovery,” claims the FTC’s in a complaint filed in U.S. District Court in Idaho. Kochava says it “does not collect, then subsequently sell data compilation that allows one to track a specific individual to a specific location.”

HBO is in production on the documentary “BS High,” chronicling the Bishop Sycamore high school football scandal. Travon Free and Martin Desmond Roe (“Two Distant Strangers”) direct the film, which will debut on HBO and be available to stream on HBO Max in 2023.

Filming on Apple TV+ series “Lady in the Lake” was halted in Baltimore on Friday when a driver on the production crew was approached by two men who tried to extort $50,000, warning if they weren’t paid, they’d return and shoot someone. “We are working with the Baltimore Police Department as the investigation is ongoing,” said a statement from the studio, Endeavor Content. “The safety and security of our crew, cast and all who work across our productions is our highest priority, and we are thankful no one was injured. Apple TV+ shared its fall slate of kids and family series. Coming up in September are “Peanuts Anthology II” (September 9); new series “Sago Mini Friends” (September 16); and second seasons of “Wolfboy and the Everything Factory” and “Get Rolling with Otizs” (September 30).

The ten-episode first half of season four of “Manifest” premieres on Netflix November 4. The drama was canceled by NBC last year, then picked up by the streamer for a final season.

NBC Sports and the Premier League are heading to Philadelphia for the next Premier League Mornings Live fan festival, running October 15-16, and featuring live action from nine Premier League fixtures presented across NBC, Peacock, USA Network, Telemundo and Universo. Facebook has agreed to settle a lawsuit alleging the company violated users’ privacy by sharing their information with outside developers. The deal, which needs the stamp of approval by a US District Court judge, would resolve a legal battle that launched amid revelations that now-defunct consultancy Cambridge Analytica harvested information from millions of Facebook users without their knowledge. The specifics of the settlement are expected to be revealed by the end of October.
