Crews have gained control of two fires in Placer County that have led to evacuations for nearby residents Friday afternoon, according to Cal Fire, the state's fire management agency. Those evacuation orders and warnings have since been lifted.

The fires were reported around 4:05 p.m., Cal Fire said. They are burning near Sheridan Lincoln Boulevard between the town of Sheridan and the City of Lincoln.

Cal Fire at 5:02 p.m. said forward progress has been stopped for both fires. One fire burned about 25 acres, and the other stopped about 30 acres. When fire officials say they stop the forward progress of a fire, that means they have stopped the flames from spreading in a particular direction(s).

Homes on Ranch House Road were ordered to evacuate, according to the Placer County Sheriff's Office. Evacuation orders are issued when there is an immediate threat to life, and it is mandatory to leave immediately.

The sheriff's office said at 4:51 p.m. that Camp Far West to Ranch House Road is under an evacuation warning. With evacuation warnings, you are not required to leave but are encouraged to be ready to leave at a moment's notice in case fire behavior becomes threatening to safety.
