The flooded Om Enclave in Kharar on Saturday.

Rainwater entered houses and shops at Om Enclave, Nijjher Road, Kharar, this evening. Society residents alleged that some villagers broke a portion of a wall to release rainwater accumulated in the village pond.

A firetender reached the spot to pump out the water from the colony.

Colony resident Sahil Thakur, Sukhdev Singh, Juginder Lal and Davinder said rainwater entered houses and shops and damaged the household items besides creating unhygienic conditions.

Flooding under the flyover on the Chandigarh-Ambala national highway continued to hamper traffic in the town. Besides, life in the Baltana, Lohgarh, Bhabat and Dhakoli areas was badly hit due to waterlogging.

It rained for an hour in the town, from 4 pm to 5 pm, which led to accumulation of rainwater at the Patiala Chowk under the flyover. Similarly, the road in front of Metro Store was also submerged.

The Tribune, now published from Chandigarh, started publication on February 2, 1881, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). It was started by Sardar Dyal Singh Majithia, a public-spirited philanthropist, and is run by a trust comprising four eminent persons as trustees.

The Tribune, the largest selling English daily in North India, publishes news and views without any bias or prejudice of any kind. Restraint and moderation, rather than agitational language and partisanship, are the hallmarks of the paper. It is an independent newspaper in the real sense of the term.

The Tribune has two sister publications, Punjabi Tribune (in Punjabi) and Dainik Tribune (in Hindi).
